LISA MCMILLAN:
TESTED. PROVEN. READY.

Lisa McMillan doesn't just talk about resilience; she has lived it. Born in Greensboro and raised in the foster care system, Lisa fought her way through homelessness and being a high school dropout to become one of Guilford County’s most effective community leaders. She knows exactly how the system does not always work for the most vulnerable because she survived it.

Refusing to become a statistic, Lisa rebuilt her life from the ground up. While raising her five children as a divorced mother, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a minor in Public Relations from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University—a testament to her determination and her belief in the power of education and perseverance. Today, as the Executive Director of Turning Everything Around (TEA), she doesn't just advocate for families; she builds the pipelines that move them from poverty to stability.

Lisa will bring deep operational experience to the County Commission. She has presided over critical policy decisions as Chairperson of the Guilford County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council and Chair of the Greensboro Transit Advisory Commission. She is a graduate of the Greensboro Police, Guilford County Sheriff’s, Greensboro City and Guilford County Citizens’ Academies, giving her a rare, insider-outsider perspective on public safety and governance. These opportunities have strengthened her understanding of local government and enhanced her ability to advocate for practical, community-centered solutions.

Lisa McMillan isn't running to be a politician. She is running to be a champion Guilford County families deserve—a leader who knows that "thriving" isn't just a slogan, but a fight she is ready to win. Her commitment to Guilford County is grounded in a lifelong dedication to uplifting others, strengthening families, and ensuring that every resident has the opportunity to build a thriving future.
